I expect the bluebells will be at their best in four or five days now. Get down there and see them while you can!

Although I did spot the first bluebell in flower today the real "star" of the show at the moment is the wood anemone. An indicator species for ancient woodland we are lucky to have carpets of these 'windflowers' in shadier parts of The Copse.
It was our last work party of the season this morning and Diana, Sheila and Juliet took part in "The Big Wokingham Litter Pick" collecting all this rubbish in just a couple of hours. Good work ladies!
Over 300 hazel saplings were planted this morning in the newly cleared area alongside the main path. A fantastic effort from everyone involved!
An astounding twelve metres of hedge laid this morning! Excellent teamwork from John, Jordan, Anne, Diana & Colin.
During today's work party several members took an hour to take part in the annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Ian Hydon lead the group and despite poor light the apprentice twitchers made some excellent sightings including nuthatch, tree creeper and even a buzzard!
Great progress at today's hedgelaying work party. We have rounded the corner and are now on the long straight run to the finish.
The 2017/19 nest box survey is well under way now with Mike, Malcolm, Sheila and Ian manning the ladder this morning. Here are some photos that Ian took showing some of the boxes and their contents. A blue tit nest with two unhatched eggs. A nest constructed of moss, bit of wool, string and tennis ball fluff. A box used by nuthatches with the entrance hole reduced in size by the birds using a mud and saliva "cement" mix.
