SEASON 2013/14 PROGRESS
WORK CARRIED OUT
Good progress made with the Connaught Avenue regeneration project. Scrub willow and bramble was removed. Five red oak saplings were transplanted into the avenue.
Compartment 2 holly & bramble clearance was completed. Good progress has been made in Compartment 3.
The nest box survey was completed by MS, SP assisted by Malcolm Dunmore from FOTEB.
Four Nature Watch sign boards were constructed and installed.
Three beetle pyramids were constructed over two work parties.
A new wild flower area was identified and planted with ~350 wild flower plugs. Three bare areas were sown with poppy, a mixture of other wild flower seeds and grass seed.
AD kindly offered to grow some wild flower plugs for next season and other members were encouraged to do so as well.
Maintenance tasks included watering of wild flowers and transplanted oaks, notice board timber treatment, wood chip spreading and clearance of fallen trees in The Copse.
Once again this year the working season was extended into March and April with additional Saturday work parties.
