Highlights - 64 different species, 197 moths counted (plus approx 600 water veneer). Most common species - Mottled Rustic, Uncertain, The Dun-bar. See full results in attached spreadsheet.
Some photos from this morning, examining and recording the moths caught overnight in the trap which was set up in John & Pip's garden. Really interesting and good fun!
Autumn may be months away but some interesting fungi is already putting in an appearance. You will most likely smell this stinkhorn fungus well before you see it!
The bluebells have come and gone but we now have a wonderful display of foxgloves in the area we cleared last year by the big fallen oak tree.
Two photos taken today that show what happens to ground flora when rampant holly growth is left unchecked and also when managed through a regular coppicing regime.
I would say that the bluebells are just about at their best now. Go and see them at the weekend when you have the chance.
